An Allen's Hummingbird nest from Oceanside California First Clutch Spring 2024

This session introduces you to Olive, a beautiful Allen female and her first clutch of 2024. She has now re-used this nest 6 times. Olive using a window feeder close by and also frequents 2 other feeders on camera. She is an extremely experienced mother and will teach her chicks all they need to know, including survival skills.

December 6th, 2023 - Olive starts nestorations.
December 22nd, 2023 - First egg laid 8:56AM.
December 24th, 2023 - Second egg laid 6:47AM.
January 8th, 2024 - First egg hatches at 10:45.
January 8th, 2024 - Second egg hatches at 4:57PM.
January 10th at 5:00PM winning names are Dawn and Dusk.
January 21st - First night alone on the nest.
January 31st - Fledge Watch begins.
February 4th at 06:30:43AM Dawn fledges the nest.
February 4th at 9:01:41AM Dusk fledges the nest.

What started out with a small Ficus tree in the corner of out patio has evolved over the years getting more protected each year from wind and crows. Along with improvements to the camera, lighting and sound.
